If your microphone is not working check the Audio Inputs and Outputs settings. 

Click on the Apple icon found at the top left corner of the screen and select System Preferences

Click ---> on the Sound button

Click on the Output tab and select the right output option

Check if the input is working by checking the input level as you talk. If the bars are moving then your microphone is working. Click on input and select the Input you want
